Virginia Diannia McCurley

Virginia Diannia McCurley (December 28, 1951 - April 9, 2026) passed away peacefully at home in Liberty, MS with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Prior to retiring, Virginia spent many years working offshore as a barge Administrator. She had a passion for spending time outdoors. Her adventurous spirit often led her to riding ATVs on Little Buffalo River while enjoying time with her family and friends. In her earlier years she was involved in cheerleading, basketball and various other activities as well as being voted a class "Beauty", "Cutest" and Homecoming Queen.

Born in Woodville, MS, Virginia, was the daughter of Barney Fenton and Katryina "Katherine" Worobec McCurley. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Leroy McCurley, Denis Mizell, Carol Bryant and Peggy Blalock. Virginia is survived by her daughter Katrina McCurley of Liberty, MS, son James "Dan" McCurley (Kimberly) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and her two grandsons, Hayden and RJ who lovingly refer to her as 'Nanny”. She is also survived by brothers Barney McCurley (Melisa), Larry McCurley (Laurie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. all at Newman Funeral Home in Centreville, MS. Burial at Hopewell Cemetery in Crosby, MS, with Brother Bryce Dobson officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be James "Dan" McCurley, Hayden McCurley, RJ McCurley, Bradley Blalock, Braxton Blalock, Colin Blalock and Landon Blalock. Honorary pallbearers Nicholas Bryant, Lee Bryant and Bradley Bruce.
