Shirley Geter Felter

Shirley Geter Felter, of Woodville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the age of 88. Shirley was born on May 23, 1938. Her celebration of life service will be held at Pioneer Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, with visitation at 11:00 am; followed by service at 1:00pm with Rev. Jimmy Pender and Rev. Warren Whitaker, II officiating. Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.

A lifelong resident of Woodville, Shirley was a retired postal route carrier and a devoted member of Pioneer Baptist Church. She is survived by her children: Loretta Pender, Marion Johnson, Tommy Felter (Kim), stepson David Felter (Linda), grandchildren: Derek, Suzanne, Chris, Jimmy, Julie, Josh and Ashleigh, 14 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers: Boyce Dover (Elaine), Gordon Dover (Sheila) and John Dover (Marion) and 2 sisters: Doris Longmire (Johnny) and Margaret Murray and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Felter, her parents Mildred Geter Dover and Clinton Geter, her twin sister Barbara Brown (Sonny), two brothers, two sisters, stepdaughter Tommie Ducote and two sons-in-law: Rev Jim Pender and Gary Johnson.

Pall bearers will be Bradley Kelly, Clayton Kelly, Daniel Kelly, Wyatt Pender, Waylon Pender, Brady Thornton and Tom Mathis.

The family would like to thank the staff of Dignity Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
