James Theodore Falkenheiner

James Theodore “Jimmy” Falkenheiner (102 yrs.)

Born in Natchez, MS on March 22, 1924, and died peacefully at home in Woodville, MS on July 29, 2026. Mr. Jimmy grew up in the Percy’s Creek community of Wilkinson County, MS.  He graduated from Woodville High School in 1942 and entered L.S.U. in Baton Rouge, LA.  His plan was to play baseball and get a degree in engineering from L.S.U.  Those plans changed when America was drawn into WWII. He joined the Army in May 1943 and was stationed at Camp Shelby, MS until he shipped out to England, crossed the English Channel and was in the second wave hitting the beaches at Normandy, France. From Omaha Beach he fought through France and into Germany. He was wounded in Oct. 1944, patched up and continued fighting until VE Day. He received a Purple Heart and arrived back home on December 27, 1945.

Mr. Jimmy served Wilkinson County as Deputy Sheriff and Sheriff. He was a lifelong farmer/cattleman, a member of the Woodville Methodist Church and a proud 34-year LSU Basketball season ticket supporter.

Until December 2025 Mr. Jimmy was still getting in his truck at 7:15 a.m. going to the country to tend to his business—cows, fences, pastures and visiting with everyone he passed on the way.

Mr. Jimmy is survived by one daughter, Margaret Lyn Falkenheiner, his niece, Judy Montfort Trevillion and his best friend, Leon Veals.

Mr. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Stella Lessley and Charles Theodore Falkenheiner, his wife of 69 years, Margaret Stockett Falkenheiner and his sister, Julia Mae Montfort.

Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to time of service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Woodville Methodist Church, Woodville, MS under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.
