Irma Glenda Hughes Hinson, age 87, born in Centreville, Ms. passed away at Plain View Assisted Living in Richland, Ms. on February 27, 2026. She was born on March 19, 1938, to Milton Henry and Lelia McCurley Hughes in Wilkinson County.
Glenda was a longtime resident of both Wilkinson and Amite Counties but later moved to Florence in Rankin County where she resided. She worked various jobs over the years: William Carter Company, Mr. Paul’s Supermarket, and Thrifty Mart, later in life she volunteered at Gateway Bargain Center in Pearl, Ms. She was a life-long Christian and a member of Centreville Baptist Church while living there and later move to the Bewelcome Community near Gloster and became a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and lastly attended First Baptist Church of Florence.
She enjoyed watching Ole Miss football, attending her children’s football and baseball games, planting flowers, working in her yard, she also loved walking around her neighborhood and visiting with her neighbors, she enjoyed shopping at thrift stores, collecting all kinds of dolls, she was a big Elvis fan, she enjoyed going to meetings and events and learning about her Confederate heritage and spending time with her family, and friends. She never met a stranger, and many say she always made a great pot of coffee.
Glenda is survived by her sisters; Pauline Carter, Olivia Hodges, and Alvy Jean Mann (Billy Joe) her daughter Brenda Perkins Dixon (Carl Sr.), and by her sons Bill Hinson (Lisa) and Glenn Hinson. Her grandchildren; Carl Dixon Jr (Sunnie), Sammie Dixon (girlfriend-Heather), Stacy Dixon. Great-grandchildren; Chasity Trinidad (Ismael), Maeleigh Lee (Tyler), Maddie Dixon, Dylan Busby, Adrianna Lee (David), Sammie Dixon Jr. (Ashley) Payton Dixon and Jimmie Dixon, Devon Hollingsworth (Shonna), Dixie Hollingsworth, Scott McCartney, Braylon Hernandez, 11 great-great grandchildren and many of her beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Randy Hinson, her siblings; Leslie Hughes Genevieve Haley, Vernelle Cassels, Winnie Dell Robinson, M.H. Hughes, and great-grandson, Austin Dixon.
Funeral Arrangements: visitation Tuesday March 3, 2026, at Newman Funeral Home in Centreville from 11am to 1pm, funeral service at 1pm, graveside service following at Oaklawn Cemetery in Centreville, Ms.
