Hilda Davis

Hilda Davis, 92, of Woodville, MS, passed away at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Miss Hilda was born on Saturday, March 3, 1934, in Natchez, MS, to Richard “Hick” Davis and Margaret Bethley Davis.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery on Sligo Street, Woodville, MS, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Clark officiating under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.

Hilda lived in Kenner, LA, for many years until 1984, when she moved back to Woodville, MS, where she enjoyed her life. She retired to the Wilkinson County Living Center in August 2016.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Davis of LaPlace, LA, her son, Leroy “Chip Ahoy” Davis of Raceland, LA, and one sister, Margaret “Cooter” Dennis of Raceland, LA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Derrin “Big Al” Davis (Woodville, MS), Britney Waxter (New Orleans, LA), Markeisha Gains (Raceland, LA), Taleah “Smith” Scott and Kevin (New Orleans, LA), Thelma Brown (Kenner, LA), Clarence Lewis, IV (Kenner, LA), Aaron Buckley (Kentwood, LA), and Fa’Zion, Sa’Miyah and Zyaire Alexander (Laplace, LA).

Preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Richard “Maw” Davis, Jr., Johnny Davis, Robert Lee “Pook” Davis and Isaac “Chunky” Davis, three sisters, Alberta “Sal” Harrison, Queen “Mammie” Young and Rosetta “Neada” Davis and three children, Lindy “Faye” Davis, Roosevelt “Jerry” Baggett and Johnny “Boom” Jarvis.
